She says, “I’ll certainly do a commercial with Aamir – even if it’s for something like condoms! And on the subject of condoms, people ought to learn to talk about condoms openly.The Censor Board needs to operate in a more rational manner.”

She adds. “On one hand, we have population control initiatives, and on the other, the Censor Board chops a scene in Hello for a dialogue that has the word ‘condom’ in it. Isn’t that illogical?”

Post Slumdog... Freida Pinto is India's ultimate cover girl

Just months ago she was a virtual nobody, but with the eight Oscar sweep by her debut film "Slumdog Millionaire", Indian model-turned-actress Freida Pinto is now hot property for magazine covers. Being the obvious new darling of Hollywood, Freida has also become a much in-demand magazine cover girl back home for obvious reasons, reports dailymail.co.uk. The actress will dominate the newsstands across India in March, with men's magazine Maxim opting to put her face and knock-out body on its cover, as will women's magazines Cosmopolitan and Vogue. Basking in her new found success, the 24-year-old, who has described her meteoric rise to fame as a "dream", also appears on the cover of industry bible Entertainment Weekly alongside her co-star from the underdog drama Dev Patel. Posing for the covers didn't come hard for the actress as she started out her career posing in advertisements for products like Wrigley's Chewing Gum. "I used to anchor a travel show in India, which is clearly not acting, and I had done a little bit of modelling. Both of those things helped me with the camera," she said. Freida, however, always had acting at the back of her mind as a career. "I always wanted to act in films, but in India it's very difficult to become an actress if you haven't got a godfather - someone with influence, always a man, in the industry to help get you into auditions. "But I didn't need a godfather for 'Slumdog...' I just went along, did the audition with Dev and then Danny picked me," she explained. Despite the success of her first film and her passion for acting, she is not sure of her career in the profession. "I have no idea whether acting is a future for me, but I would like to do more film work. The reaction to 'Slumdog...' has been beyond my wildest expectations." In what will be only her second film, Freida is now lined up to star in Woody Allen's next alongside Hollywood stars Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Anthony Hopkins. Filming will start in London this summer.

I still think of myself as a newcomer in Bollywood: Genelia DSouza

South superstar Genelia started her career with Hindi film Tujhe Meri Kasam but with her recent appearance in Priyadarshan’s comic bone tickler Mere Baap Pelhe Aap the bubbly babe is still a newcomer for Mumbai audience. The reason maybe a gap of four years that the Masti-girl took before coming back after last Hindi flick Masti. This time she is packaged with comic stars Akshaye Khanna and Paresh Rawal. Let’s share few moments with the bindaas gal Genelia and try to know about her present film along with her POV towards her career and little more…

Q. Why did you accept the film?
A. Actually, Priyan sir himself came to meet me in Chennai with the story of the film. And hearing the story I agreed on doing it. And, Priyan sir’s story leaves no room to think twice before signing it.

Q. Few people think the name of the story is little cheap. What do you say?
A. I would ask all the people, who are talking about the name of the film as cheap, to go and watch the film once. I bet their view will completely change. It’s a beautiful film depicting the beauty of relationship between a father and his son. Yeah, the title of the film is little different but one has to think it’s a Priyadarshan film and he always tries something offbeat. The title actually appealed me and I think it’s very cute. The first word I said on hearing the title was ‘wah’.

Q. Please tell us about your character in the film.
A. I am playing a juvenile character named Shikha. She is a hardcore prankster but at the same time she is helpful to others. She helps Akshaye a lot to get his father married.

Q. The film is completely based on the relationship of father and son. How far will your character be important in the story?
A. It’s very important. My track runs parallel with their story track and both the tracks are important for the story. I help Akshaye a lot. My character is not partially important but affects the entire story.

Q. Your are prankster in the film. Have you tried any prank with your co-stars on the sets?
A. Never. In my real life I am quite bindaas but never a prankster. Despite having been on a set of comedy, I kept behaving serious as because of my tension for better performance. I never enjoyed comic lines in the script just because of pressure of acting. It was the first chance for me to act in a Priyadarshan film and I didn’t want to turn anything wrong. Albeit I didn’t enjoy my lines during the shooting, I really enjoyed and laughed a lot on the same lines while dubbing them.

Q. There were director like Priyadarshan, actors like Akshaye Khanna and Paresh Rawal on the sets. How was your mental state at the shooting?
A. Initially I was little scared because all the three of them have worked before and they share quite a kind of friendship. I thought they won’t accept me among themselves as I was absolutely new to them. But there was nothing like that. Pareshji and Akshaye mixed with me so fast that I never had chance to think of my new entry to the team. And the most important matter was that they not only accepted me as the part of the team but also gave me the due honour as an actor.

Q. You are quite a known name in South but Bollywood is treating you as newcomer. How do you accept the issue?
A. Though I have done quite a lot of films, I still think of myself as a newcomer. After so many days of facing the camera I have become quite camera friendly but I still am not that clear about my shots. I still ask people about ‘how was it’ after every of my shots. Maybe my not having any filmy background is a reason behind that and I always want to learn. Everyday is a learning session to me. To be very precise, I don’t think of myself as a newcomer but a confident newcomer.

Q. Akshaye Khanna is known as very moody actor. How was your experience working with him?
A. I don’t think he is moody at all. Yeah, he is very calm and cool guy as he remained taciturn on the sets all the while just like me. He is not a guy who can misbehave with you. There were many situations where he helped me understanding and acting in several scenes. I think people have to have completely different point of views to call him moody.

Q. Any scene that troubled you most to act in?
A. I can recap shooting a song in Kerala. There were few long boats in water and while we were in one of them, boys and girls were in two separate boats. We had to go in synch with 120 other people sitting in the same boat. It’s really an interesting and surprising experience for me. I have worked in South previously, too, but this is for the first time that I enjoyed the beauty of Kerala.

Q. After Masti in 2004, you are in Mere Baap Pehle Aap in 2008. Why is the gap of four years?
A. It was not my intentional plan to take that time. In the year 2003 my three films were supposed to get released in three different languages – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. But before those films could get released, I had to move to South and then there was no time to turn back. But I am happy with my comeback.

Q. Which does excite you most – South Indian or Hindi films?
A. Both. Whether it’s Hindi or in South Indian language, what I look for is always my character.

Q. Bollywood is alluring more and more new girls everyday. How are you prepared to compete with all the newcomers?
A. I am not inexperienced with the competition but I think my competition is only with myself. I always want to give my best to any project I am working in because filmmakers hire me for the betterment of their films. I would always like to payback 200% to the person who has shown his faith in me by providing the job to me. I know that I have no filmy background and every time I have to prove myself to stick to my position in the industry.

Q. This is your second comedy. How do you enjoy comedies personally?
A. I enjoy it very much. It’s only because our daily life of loaded tension needs comic moments to laugh all the tension away. That’s the reason of us liking comedies so much. I do enjoy every genre of films including comedy, thriller or even love stories. If asked about personal feelings, my preference of film is love stories but at the same time I do feel that humour is necessary even in love stories.

Q. And what about action flicks? You can see now a days most heroines are looking forward to action films.
A. I have been in athletes since my college days. So, I am very adventurous. Now I guess you can understand how much I like action. It would be a nice thing for me to have chance to do action in Hindi as I already have done action in South flicks. I still can remember that I got wounded during an action scene in South but I was so excited about the action that I completed the scene ignoring the wound completely.

Q. Please tell us about your forthcoming films.
A. In Hindi my future projects are Aamir Khan Production’s Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Anis Azmi’s It’s My Life. The second one is a Hindi remake of my Tamil film Barmalu. Barmalu in Tamil means ‘house of dolls’. I hope of getting the same crazy response from the Hindi audience as it got from the audience in South.

It was a touching moment when Sanjana Jon, the sister of jailed fashion designer Anand Jon, broke down during the show organized by her at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week. The show was a tribute to her brother, who has been sentenced to 59 years in prison.

The showstoppers for Sanjana Jon’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection show at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion week were brother duo Salman Khan and Sohail Khan, sister duo Raima and Riya Sen, and brother-sister duo Sushmita Sen and Rajiv Sen. This Is It - Movie Review

Cast: Michael Jackson Director: Kenny Ortega Rating: *** This is it. The moment has arrived. For weeks there has been widespread speculation around the actual content of the musical documentary on Michael Jackson. While director Kenny Ortega had announced that the film would give a sneak peek of Jackson's rehearsals for his concert series by the same name ("This Is It"), naysayers wondered if they would indeed get to see what was promised. Conspiracy theories about a body double being used to make this film were all around as also that the movie "This Is It" was yet another means to cash in on the popularity of the legend who died June 25. But this is not the case. The two-hour film features Jackson the way he was and there is no duplicate filling in for him. Yes, the horror of his failing health is pretty much visible in his weak body structure. However, what is certainly not missing is the man's energy, passion, determination and zeal to give it all to his fans. "Love you all" and "God bless you" are mouthed frequently by the pop star who got his rehearsals captured on camera for his personal library. Now when the man is no more, these videos have been cut and edited to give audiences something to cheer about. Seeing a parallel global release, the film captures Jackson in perhaps not his full glory since the spunk created in front of live audiences is always different from on-stage rehearsals. However, what truly shocks is the fact that the man was pretty much alive, kicking and raring to go for his comeback concert. After seeing his moves, it is hard to believe that his health had deteriorated to such an extent that he met with a sudden death soon after. "This Is It" is surely a treat for Jackson fans. For those who aren't, the film doesn't quite give any insight into the man's life since it is assumed that "This Is It" is mainly for those who were closely following his music and were prepared for the concert. So, if anyone is looking for a documentary on his life per se, then this really isn't it! However, for those who were looking forward to the concert, this is not really a bad bargain. After all there are hit numbers like "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and many more that find a place in it. This becomes all the more interesting since Jackson comes up with new moves for these songs while making them further contemporary and presenting them to today's audiences. The only thing that one misses as the film concludes is some more footage around comments from the people associated with the show. There are a few at the beginning but otherwise the film begins and ends like a concert video. That was the intent of the feature for sure but it would have helped had audiences been given to know a little more about Michael Jackson - the man and not just Michael Jackson - the performer.

Aladin - Movie Review

Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandes, Saahil Khan, Ratna Pathak Director: Sujoy Ghosh Rating: *** "I am still a teenager", says Amitabh Bachchan right at the beginning of "Aladin", setting the mood for the film to follow. Young at heart and fresh in treatment, "Aladin" wouldn't have been possible without him. Playing Genius - The Genie could have gone either way since he is expected to be whacky, quirky, a little eccentric, a bit mad and hugely lovable. The narrative is clearly divided into two sections. If the first half is more children friendly, the second half has a lot going for teenagers and above. There is some fun in store for children with a donkey's head replacing Riteish's, his guitar turning into a frog and him being thrown in the air after being turned into a balloon. The funny antics that follow may not have grown ups rolling with laughter, but should surely keep the smiles on. Amitabh's 'Yo dude' act keeps the fun going. He adopts a completely different body language as the flamboyant genie, who is happy moving on with the times, and could give the younger generation a run for its money. Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt's Ringmaster character makes on and off appearances, though one would have expected to see more of him. The entire past about Aladin and the Genius gets a little confusing. The real fun begins in the second half with the battle between good versus evil. Sanjay becomes more prominent on screen, the past is unearthed, action and thrills take centrestage and the best of VFX is unveiled. The visuals belong to the never-seen-before variety, especially the ones where Big B is shown repenting about his misdeeds. The flashback sequence is extremely well done too. Sujoy Ghosh does well in conjuring the imaginary world of 'Khwaish' that gives the film a visual appeal. This is further enhanced by the presence of newcomer Jacqueline Fernandes. Riteish is likeable as the young man who gets superpowers towards the film's end, hence keeping an option for a sequel. Sanjay is good but how one wishes that he had at least a couple of dramatic scenes with Amitabh. However, the film completely belongs to Amitabh who totally steals the show. Watch him in "Genie Rap" and you'll know why. The story of "Aladin" is legendary and Genie and Jasmine are known worldwide. This is why it requires courage for a filmmaker to set the film in contemporary times and come up with his own take on a well loved tale. Ghosh does exactly that as he lets his imagination go wild and spins a tale that ends up relating the past, present and future of these characters. This VFX filled entertainer is just the right recipe if one is looking for a family entertainer.

Monikangana has a small but very important role and it was imperative that she has intimate lovemaking scenes with Hrithik. Kareena finally forgives Abhishek Bachchan

Kareena Kapoor seems to be on a patch up spree. Recently, when Kareena was on air for an exclusive interview with a TV channel, she was unperturbed and answered every question related to her past relationship with Shahid. When asked if they are still in contact, she answered candidly, “No, we are not in touch. Shahid and I shared a wonderful relationship in the past, the least we can do is wish each other well. At least I know I do that from my side.” But the story doesn't end here. After wishing her ex-flame well, she is now ready to mend ties with Bachchan junior as well. Buzz is that the two have been signed for Abbas-Mustan’s untitled film, a remake of the Hollywood film, Italian Job. The movie will also star Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh in lead roles. According to a source the director duo initially approached Saif Ali Khan to star with Bebo for the role but he did not have dates and he was replaced by Abhishek Bachchan. Both actors made their acting debut together in Refugee and have been in the industry for years but have only starred together in two films till date. While Kareena’s manager Zahid denies that she has signed the film, a source close to Abbas Mustan says, “The directors always had Kareena in mind and now they have managed to get Katrina on board too. The film will go on the floors in April and like every Abbas Mustan film, this too will also be shot on a lavish budget at international locations. The directors are clear about who they want to cast in the film.” The Italian Job (2003) rights are with Studio 18. CEO Sandeep Bhargava of Studio 18 says, “We have the rights of Italian Job. Abbas Mustan are working on the script and will also direct the film. The movie will go on the floors sometime next year.”

Will Shamita be able to attend Shilpa's wedding?

There’s a chance that Shamita may not be able to attend her sister’s wedding. According to highly- placed sources at Colors there seems to be no provision to get a contestant out of a game show for a wedding. Hard as it may be to believe, Shilpa Shetty’s kid-sister now locked away in Bigg Boss, is oblivious of the momentous developments in her star-sister’s life. Says a highly-placed Colors source, “Shamita has not been told anything about Shilpa’s engagement or the marriage in the last week of November. As far Shamita knows the marriage was supposed to happen in December after the show was over.” Now that Shilpa has approached the channel to evict her sister in time for the wedding—and a meeting between the two parties is on the cards this weekend—the channel bosses are at a loss as to how the rules can be bent to get Shamita out of the Bigg Boss house. Says the source, “There’s a provision for a house-mate to be brought out in a case of an extreme emergency. It happened with Jade Goody last year.But does a sister’s unscheduled wedding qualify as a family crisis? We’re now wondering if the same rule as Jade can be applied to Shamita’s case.” The international Big Brother rules are being consulted. If there’s no provision for a contestant to leave the game for a family wedding, them Shamita Shetty may not get the permission to leave Bigg Boss house for the wedding! This however seems improbable, considering Shilpa’s old relations with the reality show. (She was contestant on Bigg Brother and hosted Bigg Boss 2). Says the source from Colors, “After meeting Shilpa this weekend we’ll work out a strategy on Shamita’s eviction.” According to plans if rules apply, Shamita’s eviction will be done live. “If an unexpected turn of events helps us boost our TRPs we’re certainly not shy of putting it on camera. We did with Jade Goody. We’ll do it with Shamita.” The pop philosopher of the show Amitabh Bachchan is expected to do the needful. He will be breaking the news of Shilpa’s engagement and impending marriage to Shamita. “The rest is up to Shamita. Once we’re sure she can be evicted whether she decides to come out or stay in the House is entirely her decision, ” ends the channel source.

The prolific RGV who told us nothing but the truth in ‘Satya’ and continued to rule with ‘Sarkar’ fails to apprehend the true enormity of media blunders which we see everyday and can’t list them and forget very easily. But wonders like Jessica Lall trial or the current Shruti or even the thelka expose still remains in our minds. Rather the movie is a simple average neta media story on the surface of a T.V. channel where it doesn’t give the material or the audience much.

New Delhi Times, Surkhiya, Page 3, even SRK’s ‘ Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’ have tried to show us the insight of media some dared to bring the truth somewhat while others didn’t. Sadly, RGV’s ‘Rann’ comes with lack of evidences and sources that make you feel that you are watching a contrived social drama.

The Story……Of Course

One can easily imagine the drama as the writing lacks insights and details where Vijay Harshvardhan Malik (Amitabh Bachchan) is the founder of a private news channel, India 24/7. A hardcore upholder of journalistic ethics, his channel is battling for survival. Jay (Sudeep), his son, looks at his father's news channel purely as a business enterprise that must make profits to justify its existence. He hates that his competition (Mohnish Bahl) is doing better than him. The story takes a turn when a corrupt politician, Mohan Pandey (Paresh Rawal), decides to use the channel to his advantage by using Vijay's son-in-law Navin (Rajat Kapoor). Pandey aspires to be the Prime Minister and indulges in a vicious campaign against his political opponent.

Navin is the most insecure man on earth and won't rest till he becomes the number one industrialist in the country. He, in turn, involves his brother-in-law Jay in Pandey's game plan.

What to look out for?

The movie is shrewdly made and is surrounded by some excellent performances.

Big B as the distinguished newsman who is a staunch believer of honesty gives a performance that makes this average fair watch able for the man’s sincere efforts.

The 5 minutes speech during the end moments of the film clearly showed the aghast, pain and sadness of the man who believes in honesty thwarting and refusing all the demands is now helpless as he finds his son on the receiving end. Big B’s pause and expressions are just brilliant and forces you to feel for the character where ironically the movie doesn’t.

Ritesh spunk’s a surprise by enacting a serious role breaking his mould from those mindless clowny acts. Sudeep is fantastic and spontaneous. Paresh Rawal does the villainy with sincerity. Rajat Kapoor is earnest. Mohnish Bhel once again proves. The ladies didn’t have much to do but still Suchitra Krishnamurthy gets more scope and shines. The movies intriguing moments apart from Big B’s speech are given by Rajpal Yadav who is repetitive but is still enjoyable.

Technical aspects are strong; the movie is well shot by Amit Roy where Nipun Gupta’s scissor work makes it look sharp and the background score by Debasish Mishra makes an attempt to set our mood.

What’s not?

Apart from the blunders mentioned at the start, the movie lacks details and takes too much liberties like Ritesh Deshmukh an entrant is immensely lucky to be a part of the channel’s board meeting where TRP’s and other important decision are being taken, he even voices his opinion and goes for exclusive interviews?.

Later on, he acquires the top position of the channel because he was the man behind the expose and what on earth makes the strong principal holder like Amitabh quit the job as a media man, he should have continued and set an example.

Big B’s speech should have ended the film on that inspiring thinking note but the call for the push and pull of commercial and sensible cinema makes RGV to end on a melodramatic and filmy note making Sudeep who plays Big B’s son commit suicide and a new entrant Purab Shastri getting the top position in the channel.

Where and when do we see the pathos of crusading reporters who selflessly put their principles above all? At least in the film it could have been shown.

And how on earth can a person decide the venue for his oath taking ceremony as a PM of India away from Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Recommended: ‘Rann’ is like listening to the just an average debater in middle school presenting a term paper called "Politics, Power and the Media.", this dumping down on the insights which we need to know and ‘covering’ it with a routine Bollywood drama of politicia and the media is for those cinegoers whose look for drama and melodrama and not the truth.

The intimate scene between Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone in their forthcoming film ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ has been the talk of the town since a while now. More so as Farhan Akhtar is a married man and Deepika is single after the much publicized break-up with Ranbir Kapoor. Bollywood turns obsessive!

Being in love can be bliss. But what happens when the love of your life loves you a little too much for comfort? Seeking or showering constant attention from/on your partner can be quite suffocating. IPL becomes Bollywood's latest blockbuster

The stifling 95 degree heat in Mumbai this weekend cannot be purely put down to the onset of the southern Indian summer. The self-satisfied glow of the organisers of the hugely successful Indian Premier League must also be ratcheting up the temperature a degree or two.
Built on a mountain of cash from some of India's richest individuals, the IPL began 44 days ago with a vision for the future that seemed almost as crackpot as the idea that India would boast one of the world's booming economies.Suspicion and scepticism greeted its beginning, but ever since Brendon McCullum set alight the opening match, the tournament has gathered strength and exceeded expectations. "It has been an unprecedented blockbuster," said one of the franchise owners, Vijay Mallya - and his Bangalore team bombed dismally.
The tournament culminates in the IPL play-off weekend, ending with tomorrow's final, where the organisers will be desperate to show the world their gleaming new toy. VIPs gathered from the world of cricket will be told how the IPL have broken their own targets in the first year.
The franchises expected to break even after year three. For the majority, it has happened in year one. Television viewing figures are astronomical, even by the standards of a country with a population of more than one billion. The huge advertising revenues have enabled people to ignore the inconvenient fact that 20 to 30 per cent of match tickets have been given away.
Finding a critic of the IPL is hard. The few dissenters within the Indian cricket board have been silenced by the £40 million they are set to make from the IPL's first edition."It has been sensational," said Kepler Wessels, coach of the Chennai Super Kings. "I've coached and played all over the world and over different eras and this reminds me very much of the Kerry Packer World Series that I played in. That was when cricket became professional and there is a similar vibe here. This has been a tremendous tournament and it will grow from strength to strength." That strength has been built on decent cricket, looking good for the cameras and appealing to the masses. Preity Zinta, the Bollywood actress and owner of the Punjab franchise, flashes her smile on cue, while one obsessed fan fell from the stands at Eden Gardens trying to get a glimpse of Kolkata owner, the superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
But this is India and cricketers are also kings. New stars have emerged, and predictably, they are mostly Australian. Shaun Marsh, the Western Australian batsman, was a snip at $30,000 (£15,171) for the Kings XI Punjab and is the tournament's leading run scorer with 593. Over at the Rajasthan Royals, Shane Watson has shown what he can do when he stays fit, while Marsh's team-mate Luke Pomersbach has biffed the ball at will.
It is a serious business for the players, who, for the first time in their careers, have had to publicly account for huge salaries.
"I remember lots of lads laughing and joking in the first year of T20, but people are taking it very seriously now," said Jeremy Snape, the former England one-day player who is performance coach for the Rajasthan Royals. "Five years later it is having a big impact on the game."
Off the field the talk is of reconciliation. Players who clashed while competing for their countries have been forced to get on or get out as they share dressing rooms with old foes. There was no greater rivalry than that between Graeme Smith and Warne. But at the end-of-tournament party, held at Mumbai's Grand Hyatt on Thursday night, the pair were seen swapping altogether nicer sentiments.
"So many different combinations have come together," said Warne. "We don't normally get to share ideas and methods and that has been one of the lasting memories for me."
There is one thing missing from the finals weekend - the home side. There were longer queues yesterday afternoon at screenings of the new Indiana Jones movie than there were at the Wankhede Stadium ticket office.
The IPL's decision to hike prices for the day did not help on that front, with the top tickets set at £140. A quick rethink led to a 50 per cent reduction. Swathes of empty seats do not look good on television, and looking good on screen is what really counts.
THE GOOD: The rejuvenation of Shane Warne: He has revelled in his role as leader and father figure to the unfancied Rajasthan Royals, whom he guided to surprise leadership of the group-stage table.
The crowds: It is no surprise that fans have flocked to the games, what has come as a shock is how they have swapped national allegiance for supporting their local franchise.
The money: The Indian Cricket Board are projected to make more than £40?million from the first IPL season as sponsorship has soared.
The cricket: In India the batsmen are kings and Brendon McCullum's 158 in the tournament's opening match set the bar. Sanath Jayasuriya, Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh (right) have all reached three figures.
The glamour: From Bollywood actresses to the Washington Red Skin cheerleaders and glitzy after match parties, the IPL has aped Formula One in its pursuit of the opulent. 1. The racism charge. Two British cheerleaders made accusations of racism, claiming they were told they could not perform at a match because they were black.
THE BAD: The slap: Harbhajan Singh of the Mumbai Indians slapped India team-mate Shanthakumaran Sreesanth in the face after a match against the Kings XI Punjab. Harbhajan was later banned for the rest of the tournament.
The sulking: Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan never missed the chance to appear on camera while his side Kolkata Knight Riders were doing well. When their fortunes nosedived he was less conspicuous.
The arrogance: Heady with success the organisers are now talking about two IPL seasons a year. What about Test cricket?
The fickleness: Failure to qualify for the semi-finals left some doubting the futures of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, two true greats.

Katrina Kaif: Wait & watch 'Jee Karda'

Katrina Kaif has just returned from Egypt after shooting a song with her favourite co-star, Akshay Kumar, for the keenly awaited SINGH IS KINNG.
And while Katrina is delighted with the way the song has shaped up, she is even more charmed by Egypt and its culture. 'It's among the most beautiful countries I have visited - the pyramids, the temples and the landscape are absolutely exotic. I even enjoyed the barbecue dinner on a boat on the Nile. We shot in a number of places and I've come back with fond memories of my trip.'
Ask her about the song she shot, Jee Karda, she smiles, 'Wait and watch. It should be on air later this month. We shot at 4am every day to capture the light and it was scorching. To keep cool we would stay in shades and sip fruit juice or mint tea.'

Alibaba gets John Abraham’s voice

After having tested many foreign voices, Alibaba gets to speak the desi language, courtesy John Abraham. Which only means that the lead ‘hero’ of the much awaited animated film Alibaba and the 40 Thieves will have John Abraham’s voice. The film is directed by Soumitra Ranade of Jajantaram Mamantram fame.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Soumitra said, “We have John Abraham lending his voice for Alibaba, while Saurabh Shukla, Raza Murad, and Mukesh Tiwary do for other characters.”
Alibaba and the 40 Thieves is a story based on a boy called Chinku, who lives in Mumbai and is trans-migrated into Arabian Night’s tale. “The music of the film is given by a group called Three Brothers & a Violin. It’s expected to release by 2009,” added Soumitra.
It will be interesting to see how John’s voice sounds over Alibaba because he was among those actors whose debut films were dubbed by someone else. Yes, John’s voice was dubbed by a dubbing artist in his filmJism.

Govinda plays a virgin in Jagmohan Mundhra’s next

Govinda is all geared up to play a 40 year old virgin in an untitled venture directed by Jagmohan Mundhra. The film will be co-produced by Sanddeep Kapur and Anuj Sharma under Promodome and Sishty Creations.
Putting an end to the rumour about the film being made in English language, one of the producers Sanddeep Kapur informs, “The film loosely inspired by Hollywood comedy The 40 Year Old Virgin is a comic caper which will be made in Hindi.” He goes on to add, “We will have Amrita Rao playing the hot chick of UK based Govinda who plays a 40 year old virgin.”
Apart from Govinda and Amrita Rao, Anupam Kher and Shakti Kapoor will also star in the film. In fact, the cast and crew have already moved to London to shoot the first schedule. To which Sanddeep says, “We have zeroed in on London where 60% of the film will be shot and rest 40% will be in India.” Monty Sharma will be doing the music for the film and Pony Verma is the choreographer.
The film is expected to release this year

Sanjay Dutt and Govinda in Dil Mein Baji Guitar

Subhash Ghai has worked with many big actors in his illustrious career. He is now all set to bring together the hit pair of Govinda and Sanjay Dutt together again in his forthcoming film.
Bollywood Hungama spoke with the Showman himself to get some more details. “Yes, this project is on the proposal stages .We have signed Govinda, but have yet to confirm Sanjay’s dates for this film. The film is titled Dil Mein Baji Guitar and would be directed by Hadi Ali Abrar, a new and talented director. He has got a brilliant script, full of comedy and emotions. So I liked the film.”
It may be recollected that Govinda and Sanjay Dutt were earlier seen in Mukta Arts’ Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, directed by David Dhawan. So we quizzed the Showman, how different is this film going to be? “This is a different script altogether. It’s a new kind of film and not on the lines of other films which Govinda and Sanju have done before. Besides, they do get along very well and would be playing friends in the film too,” says Mr. Ghai.
So when does the film go on floors? “We are yet to finalize the female cast. Music will be either by Pritam or Sajid-Wajid. The film should go on floors in July this year.”
Meanwhile, Ghai’s next magnum-opus Yuvraj is 75% complete and would release in October later this year coinciding with Mukta Arts’ 30th anniversary.
As they say there is simply no stopping the Showman.

Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, Jr. better known by his stage name Ginuwine, is an American R&B singer and an occasional actor.
